ISMM Workshop on Holistic Warehouse Transformation:

The Institute of Supply and Materials Management (ISMM), renowned as the premier professional body for Supply Chain Management Education in Sri Lanka, orchestrated a highly successful workshop in partnership with the Ministry of Industries and the Industrial Development Board. Titled "Holistic Warehouse Transformation: Integrating Agile Operations, Efficiency, and Data Analytics for Optimal Performance" the event unfolded on March 19, 2024, from 08:30 a.m. to 04:30 p.m. at the Marino Beach Hotel in Colombo. Attended by over 130 industry professionals, the workshop aimed to revolutionize warehouse operations through the integration of agile methodologies, efficiency enhancements, and data analytics for unparalleled performance.

 

Esteemed industry experts led the workshop as resource persons. Mr. I. G. Perera, a distinguished Past President of ISMM and seasoned lecturer, along with Mr. Yohan Gomas, a respected Member of ISMM and Head of Vehicle Parts and Inventory at Dimo PLC, shared their invaluable insights and experiences with attendees.

The event garnered significant presence from key figures in ISMM, including Mr. Jayantha Gallehewa, President of ISMM, Mr. Sarath Gamage, Immediate Past President of ISMM and President of the Organization of Professional Associations (OPA), and Maj Gen Renaka Udawatta (Rtd), Vice President and Chairman of the Strategic Management Committee at ISMM. Additionally, Capt. Akram Alavi (Rtd), Director of Training, and dedicated staff members of ISMM contributed to the event's success through their active participation.

 

Throughout the workshop, participants engaged in interactive sessions, case studies, and practical demonstrations designed to deepen their understanding of warehouse transformation strategies. Topics covered included the implementation of agile methodologies to adapt to evolving market demands, optimization of operational efficiency through process improvements, and leveraging data analytics to drive informed decision-making and elevate overall performance.

The collaborative effort between ISMM, the Ministry of Industries, and the Industrial Development Board underscores their shared commitment to advancing professional development and fostering excellence in Supply Chain Management practices across Sri Lanka. This workshop served as a pivotal platform for industry professionals to acquire valuable insights, exchange ideas, and chart a course towards transformative warehouse management practices in the region.
