The Institute of Supply and Materials Management (ISMM), in collaboration with the Ministry of Industries, recently conducted a groundbreaking programme aimed at “Developing Resilient and Sustainable Supply Chains” for over 100 Entrepreneurs in the Gampaha District.
As the only National Professional Institute for Supply Chain Management Education in Sri Lanka, ISMM delivered an invaluable and informative programme designed to enhance the capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The focus was on equipping these entrepreneurs with knowledge on the latest Supply Chain trends, Procurement Management, Cost Savings, and Process Improvements, all essential elements for strengthening the backbone of the economy.
This significant event was guided by the visionary leadership of ISMM Hony. President Mr. Jayantha Gallehewa. It also aligned with the broader programme of developing entrepreneurs, a vision initially launched by former Secretary to the Ministry of Industries, Ms. Thilaka Jayasundara, and now continuing under the guidance and leadership of the current Secretary to the Ministry of Industries, Mr. Shantha Weerasinghe. General Secretary and Senior Faculty Member of ISMM, Dr. (Eng.) Sanath Divakara, and Council Member and Senior Faculty Member, Mr. Priyanga Kirihena, served as resource persons for this development programme, delivering insightful sessions that highlighted the importance of managing Supply Chains as entrepreneurs.
Held on June 3, 2024, at the Gampaha District Secretariat Auditorium, the event was graced by distinguished guests including the Director of the Ministry of Industries, Ms. Nalini Balasubramaniumm, Assistant District Secretary Gampaha, Mr. J. W. Kithsiri, Vice President ISMM Maj. Gen. Renaka Udawatte (Rtd), Director of Public Enterprises, Mr. Rizvi, Manager Administration and Events, Mr. Neranjan, Assistant Manager Marketing and IT, Mr. Chamara Silva, along with several ISMM and Ministry of Industries staff members.
This event underscores ISMM's commitment to fostering sustainable economic growth through advanced supply chain management education and practical support for entrepreneurs.
